Khaela and George are getting hitched in a week and we’re almost excited as the happy couple. We chatted to them briefly after their pre-wedding shoot and asked them about their upcoming day and how their romance came to be.
How did you two meet?
We were actually set up by George’s brother, Nick. I was out having dinner with one of my girlfriends, who at the time was dating Nick. He kept making jokes that I should meet his brother George and that we were very similar etc. So after a few weeks of chatting, George and I decided to meet one night on the gold coast.
Can you share about the proposal?
We were on holidays travelling around America for five weeks and the last leg of our trip was Hawaii. We had an amazing day, surfing, hiking and driving around the island, followed by a beautiful sunset dinner on the beach at our favourite restaurant on Waikiki. Once we were back at our hotel, we were standing out on our balcony and that’s when George popped the question! It was the best ending to our holiday.
You’re getting married so soon, how are you feeling – nervous/ excited/ calm etc
I’m sure there will be some nerves on the day but right now we are just so excited! Now that all our plans are done we can just sit back and wait for next Saturday!
What has the wedding prep been like?
Planning a wedding can at times feel like a full time job – especially with a big Greek wedding! The initial stages were easy in terms of decorating and choosing a venue. It wasn’t until the 2 weeks leading up to the wedding date that it felt like everything was happening. Last minute decisions had to be made and there were definitely a few late nights.
Planning the wedding was a lot of fun and we can’t wait to see how it all turns out on the day!
Any advice for brides-to-be who are planning their wedding?
K: I think the main thing to remember is that the wedding is about you and your partner. It’s not about what flowers you choose or how nice your invitations are. A lot of brides get stressed over some of the finer details which really get forgotten once the day has past. The most important thing is that you and your partner are happy. Sometimes you try so hard to please everyone else that you forget it’s your day!
G: Leave yourself plenty of time.
What are you most looking forward to on the day?
K: Everything! I can’t wait to walk down the aisle and see George’s face and most of all – marry my best friend. I can’t wait to have every single person I know and love all at the one place at the same time.
G: To see how it all comes together. The surprises we have in store. Peoples reactions on the day and their excitement for us.
What was the pre-wedding shoot like? Do you think these are a good idea for couples?
K: I enjoyed it! Andrew is truly talented – we loved all the images! I think it’s a great idea because we got to see Andrew’s style and it gave us a little insight into how our wedding photos would turn out. It’s a good way for everyone to get to know each other and therefore work well together on the actual wedding day.
G: Seeing the work Andrew can produce with us makes it more exciting to see how the wedding photos will turn out
We wish these two lovebirds all the best and can’t wait to photograph their wedding in less than a week!
