You Are The Best Part Of My Day – Always

Who: Kylie + Matt

When: November 28, 2013

Where: Spicers Peak Lodge

What: Wedding

Matt and Kylie decided to celebrate with only their nearest and dearest — which included their loyal puppy pal Macy (who was definitely one of the most excited guests). It was such a glorious day, full of sweet moments and laughter, and the most romantic and heartfelt speech by the groom. Kylie shared her feelings about the whole experience.

Q: Describe your wedding day in five words?

More than we ever expected.

Q: What was the highlight?

Saying the vows we had written ourselves to each other.

Q: Funniest moment?

Our flower girl Macy (which was our two-year-old Dogue De Bordeaux dog) crawling across the lawn to be involved in the signing of the register. For such a big dog, she ever so gently put her paw out to connect to both of us and to grab our attention.

Q: How did you feel throughout the day?

Surreal.

Q: What did you love about your wedding photographs?

That Andrew captured all of our emotions, and created photographs that show the natural beauty of the venue. When going through the photos, we felt as though we were experiencing it all over again. It brought tears to our eyes and shivers down our spine. The joy, the genuine happiness and the love for, not only each other, but the people who are a big part of our lives.

Q: Do you have any advice for brides-to-be?

Do it your way. Don’t listen to the family and friends that tell you how it should be done, and who should be invited. It is your day, and make sure you have exactly what you want, including designer shoes! Don’t be afraid to delegate simple tasks and perhaps assign a friend or family member to be a personal coordinator. Things do go wrong, having someone you trust will save you burning all your energy following up and worrying about very small details. Enjoy the moment and keep it real.

Q: If you could change anything, would you?

No.

Q: Why did you choose Andrew as your photographer?

We had previously worked with Andrew on other weddings, and were extremely impressed. We felt an instant connection with Andrew. We believe a talented photographer is able to listen and to be able to tell your story within a series of pictures. You can view his work, relate to it and also get lost in the moment. We knew he was the one when we viewed another wedding. These were pictures of people who we didn’t even know, but watching his slideshow felt they were part of our family we had known all our lives. We cried! Andrew is able to capture every moment, enhancing and highlighting the natural environment (not using an air brush!). He’s extremely quick as these moments can pass at the blink of an eye. We avoided stale and posed shots and opted for capturing the natural beauty, moments and candid shots. We were blown away with some of the shots especially with all the stars at night.

Q: Is there one photograph that sums up the day for you?

They are all amazing, however the four shots that are taken during the ceremony, capturing Matt saying his vows, and the emotions on my face, are very special.

Q: Best advice you’ve been given about love and marriage?

Never stop dating your wife and don’t ever stop flirting with your husband. Remember that you still have individual goals and aspirations but want to share and experience these together.  Fall in love over and over again. You will constantly change. You’re not the same people you were when you got first met, and in five years you will not be the same person you married. Change will come, and in that you have to re-choose each other everyday. Always choose love.

Q: When did you know he was THE ONE?

The day I met him.

Q: What was his speech like?

Beautiful, I cried. “You will always be the best part of my day!”

Q: You chose to have a small intimate wedding – why did you decide to do that rather than a larger wedding?

We wanted to share with the people that are apart of our lives at present, that we have contact with regularly, and will be in our lives for years to come. We didn’t want to have anyone that neither of us had never met before, and the long list of relatives that you only see at weddings and funerals.

Q: And apparently something cool happened on the walk down the aisle? Can you share with us?

Macy was just as excited to see me as Matt was. Macy was dressed in a big bow made by my dressmaker. It was very special.

Q: Anything else we should know?

We let Andrew do his thing and we believe this is important. Whilst we had a couple of small requests, we put trust in him. There were moments we had forgotten about, he was there watching, listening and connecting. He was able to do this without being seen. Magic! You’ll have more time spending this with loved ones and enjoying the moment.
